Location :

The school is located in Brest, in the west of Brittany, which is France’s second most visited region. During the trips organised by CIEL, you will have the opportunity to discover a genuine and well-preserved region with captivating assets: grandiose, coastal landscapes, lined up standing stones and ancient dolmens, cities of art and history such as Mont Saint Michel, legendary forests said to have been frequented by King Arthur and Merlin the enchanter, and the Celtic culture. The school housed within the walls of a magnificent 19th century mansion, located in a beautiful park facing the Elorn River. The charm of the place will captivate and motivate you for your studies.

It has specialized in teaching French as a foreign language, and is a people-friendly school with 27 classrooms, capable of hosting up to 200 students at a time divided into small groups.

Host family accommodation: learn French by living in a French family

To keep learning even after classes, CIEL recommends, no matter your age, choosing host family accommodation. Our carefully selected host families are pleased to show you around Brittany and help you discover the whereabouts, but also to learn about you and your culture.

Only one or two students per host family!

In order to benefit from you stay, the number of students per family is limited. During your stay, you will have plenty of opportunities to learn French during meals, walks, visits etc.

Free pick-up service!

If you choose to come learn French at CIEL, and contact them a week in advance of your arrival, your host family will pick you up at the airport or the railway station when you arrive. Host family accommodation is scheduled to start on Sunday afternoon or evening and end on Saturday morning. Any later or earlier arrivals can be arranged with CIEL

Youth Hostel

The youth hostel is wonderfully situated in a park surrounded with trees in the heart of the marina of the Bay of Brest and near the beach. Océanopolis and the botanical garden are only a few steps away. In this newly renovated building you will find

• 118 beds divided in rooms of 4 beds each (no single rooms available, shared bathroom)
• 11 rooms are specially equipped for the disabled
• 3 dining rooms, a kitchen for guests and a cafeteria
• A fire place
• 4 fully equipped meeting rooms

University Campus Dormitories

Brest University has two sets of on-campus accommodation. They are located at a five minutes’ bus ride from the city centre and the main railway station.

This accommodation consists of single rooms, quite modest in size, and the following shared facilities: bathrooms, toilets, kitchen (for breakfast only, bring your own cookware and dishes), laundry room (washer, dryer, ironing board), study rooms, bicycle park, phone booth, and TV room. You can have your meals at the cafeterias on campus.
